In this example its named as&nbsp;<strong>Etlia\u2019s PBI Projects &amp; Version Control<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add users to the site. User group can also be added to the site and user changes can be made later if needed.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note that this will create a new group in Azure Active Directory and no further action is needed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Configuring SharePoint site with OneDrive<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Create a folder inside the new SharePoint site as shown below.<br>4. Under Documents&nbsp;-&gt;&nbsp;New&nbsp;-&gt; Folder<br>5. Name the Folder accordingly. In this example I named the folder&nbsp;<em>Etlia\u2019s PBI Projects<\/em><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"722\" height=\"566\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1517\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/2.png 722w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/2-300x235.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 722px) 100vw, 722px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>OneDrive Synchronization<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Next is you need to sync this folder with your OneDrive. ALWAYS Open and edit the report from OneDrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PART 2. Configuring PBI services&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>1. First locate the Workspace that we want to published\/link the file.&nbsp;<br>                1.1 For this example, we will use&nbsp;<strong>PBI Version Control Space<\/strong>&nbsp;workspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">2. Next, we need to link the workspace to the OneDrive version that we created which is link to our SharePoint site.<br>                2.1 Do this by Clicking&nbsp;<strong>Workspace<\/strong>&nbsp;-&gt;&nbsp;<strong>locate workspace<\/strong>&nbsp;-&gt;&nbsp;<strong>ellipses next to the workspace name<\/strong> <br>&nbsp;               -&gt;&nbsp;<strong>Workspace  settings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7-1024x726.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1547\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7-1024x726.png 1024w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7-300x213.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7-768x544.png 768w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/7.png 1225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>3. In the Workspace Settings click&nbsp;<strong>Advanced<\/strong>&nbsp;-&gt; Locate&nbsp;<strong>Workspace OneDrive&nbsp;<\/strong>-&gt; Add the&nbsp;<strong>OneDrive\/SharePoint<\/strong>site that we created&nbsp;-&gt;&nbsp;Click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"629\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8-629x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8-629x1024.png 629w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8-184x300.png 184w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/8.png 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>4. After connecting the workspace to our OneDrive, go inside the Workspace, in the Bottom left corner -&gt; click<strong>&nbsp;Get Data<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Inside<strong>&nbsp;Get Data&nbsp;<\/strong>page&nbsp;-&gt;&nbsp;Click&nbsp;<strong>Files<\/strong>&nbsp;to bring the report that is located in OneDrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"949\" height=\"481\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1553\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/10.png 949w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/10-300x152.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/10-768x389.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 949px) 100vw, 949px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Now you will see that our OneDrive version is available \u2013 great!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"272\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/11-1024x272.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1555\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/11-1024x272.png 1024w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/11-300x80.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/11-768x204.png 768w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/11.png 1495w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Choose&nbsp;<strong>OneDrive \u2013 Etlia\u2019s PBI Projects &amp; Version Control<\/strong>. It will send us to the folders that are created inside the SharePoint site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"381\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/12-1024x381.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1557\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/12-1024x381.png 1024w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/12-300x112.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/12-768x286.png 768w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/12.png 1247w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Access the folder and select the file that you wish to upload. In this case, we currently have one report&nbsp;<strong>VersionControl_Test.pbix&nbsp;<\/strong>-&gt; Click<strong>&nbsp;Connect<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"239\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/13-1024x239.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1559\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/13-1024x239.png 1024w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/13-300x70.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/13-768x179.png 768w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/13-1536x359.png 1536w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/13-2048x479.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>                  8.1 This will be uploaded to the chosen workspace<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"327\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/14-1024x327.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1561\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/14-1024x327.png 1024w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/14-300x96.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/14-768x245.png 768w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/14-1536x490.png 1536w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/14.png 1822w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now we have our integration fully set up and functional. We can immediately start testing if the functionality completely and accurately works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. We can begin testing by opening the pbix. file from OneDrive. This will open the file on PBI desktop. Apply changes to the report for testing and save the report. <br><strong>Note <\/strong>that&nbsp;we don\u2019t need to re-publish the report from PBI desktop to PBI services. After saving the new changes applied to the report&nbsp;<em>(in PBI desktop),<\/em>&nbsp;this will automatically sync and update the current report published in PBI services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. After saving the changes, wait for a few minutes while the file is syncing, after the file successfully synced. The changes will now be updated and available in PBI services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. We can check the version history of the changes made in SharePoint site:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"632\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/15-1024x632.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/15-1024x632.png 1024w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/15-300x185.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/15-768x474.png 768w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/15.png 1135w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>12. We can use this to roll-back the changes we applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/16-1024x392.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1565\" srcset=\"https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/16-1024x392.png 1024w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/16-300x115.png 300w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/16-768x294.png 768w, https:\/\/etlia.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/16.png 1372w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notice<\/strong>: In this example, we made changes to the report 4x. If I Restore this report using the first modification, it will restore the report to the state when it was firstly created and overwrite all changes made. This allows us to track and apply changes with ease. Presents us the capabilities to roll back with any changes implemented, provisions us the benefits of having a backup without creating any excessive copies of the file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important notes:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After creating the Folder inside the SharePoint site, synchronize this folder to your OneDrive.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Link the Workspace to the OneDrive file created.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always open and apply changes on the file located in the OneDrive folder.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No need to re-publish the report after making changes. Save the report, and the changes will sync with report that is published.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the report was accidentally re-published from PBI desktop to PBI services. Don\u2019t worry, this will only create another copy of the report in the services.
